  1. * Have a conversation about your hometown if you're not from the area your ASL class is held. Have a conversation about the place you grew up at - town, city, farm, a different country.

    * Play a quiz game by asking each other questions:

    • Name 2 States on the Pacific Coast / West Coast / Gulf Coast
    • Name 2 States bordering Mexico / Canada
    • Name 4 States that touch a Great Lake
    • Where is "city name" in?

    * Ask each other questions like:

    • Did you grow up in the same town you're in now? The same State?
    • Are there any special events in your city?
    • Have you travelled to other cities? Other States? Other Countries?
    • Where do you want to visit?
    • What's your favorite type of food? (Mexican, Italian, Chinese)

    Now for some Location vocabulary, please keep in mind that some signs will vary locally and "outsiders".

      Hint - many cities use an initialized letter moving in a "7" formation.

    States:

    • Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Main, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming

      Hint - Many States use the Postal version of 2 or 3 letters as the sign (MO, FLA, VT, MASS).

      Hint - Don't forget there are old and new signs for some countries as well as adopting their native sign for their country.
